Hello there,

We have lots of marketing tips for you and your funeral business this month, so let's get straight into it!

TIP 1 - LET'S TALK OLD SCHOOL MARKETING

My marketing career started way before the existence of digital marketing, so I'm a big fan of some of the "old school" offline marketing strategies - particularly for businesses like funeral homes focusing on a local target audience.

Making use of these hyper local offline marketing activities can really help you to win against the big players in the industry in your local area. And what's not to love about that!

TIP 2 - WHY IT'S IMPORTANT NOT TO IGNORE GOOGLE REVIEWS IN FAVOUR OF REVIEWS ON FUNERAL GUIDE

A few weeks ago, we did some research, looking at the Google Business Profiles of 70 funeral directors across the UK. 75.4% of these had less than 20 Google reviews. And for 44.9%, their most recent review was older than 3 months! This isn't good.

One funeral home I looked at had just 16 Google Reviews. But when I looked more closely they also had an impressive 297 reviews over on Funeral Guide.

The problem is that Google is the most used search engine, which means the 297 Funeral Guide reviews are super easy to miss. I did it and so will potential clients!

It's a risky strategy to ignore Google Reviews, as it's the reviews and star rating you have on Google that are used in your Google Business Profile and in your listing in the very important Google Map Pack Of 3!

A client review on Google will work harder for your business to attract new clients than a review on any other funeral industry directory. More people use Google to search for a funeral director, and Google reviews have a much higher visibility on the search results pages, so ignoring them means you could be missing out on new clients.
